I used the Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the pillow box at 8".  I used paper from Spellbound (retired) and Dotty For You (retired), along with some red glitter cardstock.  I added a strip of paper from For Always , some Black Shimmer Trim and some red washi tape I had on hand. ...

Teacher Appreciation Week has never really meant much to me, as a teacher, unfortunately.  I have worked at a Middle School for 12 years, so it's never been a big deal.  We've had the occasional treat from an administrator, or luncheon put on by parent club, but that's it. Now that I'm a PARENT of a school aged child- Teacher Appreciation Week has become important to me!  I could go on and on about how amazing my son's teacher(s) are, about how ALL teachers are amazing.  The bottom line is, they play a HUGE role in shaping a child's life- academically, emotionally and socially.  In fact, teacher's spend more time with our kids, than we do.  Teachers are overworked, underpaid and unappreciated!  I know this FIRST HAND!  So I do what I can to show my appreciation for my kids' teachers :) My son is in First Grade this year :)  Early in the year, we got a list of the teacher's favorite things.  This has come in handy :)  The best ...

Have you tried the Puddle Pad technique????? First, layer a couple baby wipes on a large block, then take your reinkers (I used Creme Brule, Sunset, Smoothie and Lagoon.)  and randomly drip them on the wipe, forming a large blob of color at least as big as your stamp.  Then take your stamp, press down firmly to ink it up, and stamp. On the circle in the middle, I also swiped it a few times in the "puddle pad" which gave it a streaky distressed look.  Look how fun it is: My card today is based on the Deconstructed Sketch #95 . I had my first cardmaking class of 2013 this week!  It was a blast!  So nice to get back to creating and even better to see all my crafty friends :) There were 12 cards to choose from and the ladies each made at least 8.  Success I would say! My brother and his lovely wife are finally making me an AUNT!!!!  I'm over the moon excited!  I love babies, but I am DONE creating my own.  I cannot wait to love on, squeeze, kiss, snuggle and SPOIL their baby!  They are having a baby girl too :)  My mom and I threw them a couples/family shower and it was my job to create decorations for the shower.  I took it upon myself to create some gifts as well.  The theme we went with was Baby Carriages, in their colors:  Grey, Pink and White. JOURNAL:  I used an older CTMH Journal, Dotty For You papers, Sweet Leaf Ribbon, Friendship Alphabet and Polka Dot Alphabet. EMILY BANNER:  I cut the Baby Carriages  with the Graphically Speaking Cricut Cartridge.  I used Posterboard Alphabet for the letters. Welcome back to Day 17 of the Artiste in August Blog Hop!!  You should be arriving from Amy's Blog .   Your next stop will be PAMELA'S BLOG.   Today is an ANY SHAPE day.  I would like to share some cards with you from my recent All You Can Create Card Class.  I tend to use a lot of Cricut cuts in these cards because it's easy to pop in some cardstock and hit the Quantity button and cut several at a time for class.  These are just some basic cuts for sentiments! This card features Clementine papers and Say It In Style stamps.  I used some Neutral Twine and Brown and Tan Bling.  This card is a copy of a card we created at convention. The sentiment is on a bracket from page 33  This card is a lift of a card I found on Pinterest.  I used the new Ruby ink and Scholastic papers.  I LOOOOVE the burlap ribbon on this one.  All you need to do to fray it as shown is cut off the binding, then pull some of the strings off...
