CTMH--- May Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome to the Close To My Heart Stamp of the Month Blog Hop for May, featuring Chairs to You

All artwork on the hop will feature May's Chairs to You, a set of 14 stamps! If you have come here from Angela's Blog you are on the right path.

This month we have  about 55 CTMH Consultants sharing their SOTM creations, and other great CTMH artwork. Hopping along is fun and simple to do - just click the link at the end of each blogger's post to move to the next one!  Be sure to leave some love (comments) along the way :)

Today I have created a very simple card for you!  In fact, I used only scraps for this card.  I stamped the image using cocoa ink onto a piece of the patterned paper from Miracle.  Kinda reminds me of an "ugly chair", you know, the kind we all had in our homes in the 80's.

Supplies:
Chairs to You
Miracle Level 2
Basic Button Collection
Crystal Blue waxy flax
Cocoa Ink
Foam tape
Corner Rounder.

The month of MAY brings  great deals from CTMH!
*50% off the consultant kit---- Join CTMH for only $64.50!
*National Scrapbooking Day--- You & Me kit

Now hop hop hop on over to Terrie's Blog  to see what she has created for you!

CTMH + Jewel Kade-- Altered Mirror

Nothing beats combining the love for TWO businesses into one project!  I needed a mirror to add to my Jewel Kade display.  I had one in the closet in the "to alter" pile.  So I got it out, pulled out some CTMH supplies and got to work!

I started by spray painting the frame white.  It took three coats and was not fully covered.  But that was ok, and the look I was going for.  I sanded it smooth a little.  Then I painted a layer of CTMH's Create a shade Pearl Paint to give it a little shimmer.  I used the Wings Workshop stamp set and Juniper ink to create the damask pattern.  Then I stamped JK using archival Black ink and Building Block Alphabet.  I used some fat gingham ribbon to create rolled ribbon roses and attached them to the bottom corner.  The paint and ink took a while to dry, so I heat set it (a little too much in one spot, but shhhhh).

I am totally thrilled with the outcome it looked FABULOUS on my display!  I got multiple compliments on it :)

Spring Fashions-- Sewing projects

Did you know I sew too?  I consider myself a beginner still, but I do enjoy sewing.  Every once in a while, I will bring out my machine, fabric and supplies and create a few projects.  Then I'll put it away for a couple months....

This week, I started out by hemming some of my husband's baseball pants.  I have had a few sewing projects brewing in my mind, so I kept the machine out and went to town :)

I created this tank top dress via my dear college friend Heather's blog/tutorial. I was so excited to see when she posted this tutorial, because I had just purchased a couple plain tanks from Old Navy's sale!  I plan to make another one of these this week :)

I adore this super cute outfit too!  My mommy group friend Amy from Positively Splendid has done a couple of these ruffled appliques on t-shirts, so I used her tutorial found HERE.
The skirt is just a simple A-line skirt that I attempted to add a ruffled edge to.  That part did not turn out quite like I had envisioned, but its cute none the less.

I can't wait for it to get a little warmer so my little darling can wear these cute creations :)

CTMH-- Liquid Glass- revisited

I had quite a few comments on my blog from my last card post asking about LIQUID GLASS, so I thought I would re-post this information I shared last fall!

Z 679 Liquid Glass-- $6.95

Liquid Glass is a Multi-purpose product that is a MUST HAVE!

Ideas for Liquid Glass:

- Use to attach page elements (especially good with clear items): metals, vellum (note: it can show through a little bit), transparencies, ribbon, fibers, flowers, plastic embellishments, stickers that have lost their stick…etc… Just like a liquid adhesive

- Use to add any kind of water effect to a page: bubbles, water droplets, or just to make something look wet

- Use to highlight designs on pattered paper (ex: flowers, vines, or even geometric figures – any area you may want to draw attention to, or add interest!)

- Use on photo to make an object stand out

- Use on stickers to give them dimension

- Add some ink to change the color and it gives it a stained glass look

- Use it with micro beads

- Make clear epoxy type stickers with it

- Fill conchos with it

- Add it to acrylic paint to give it added sticking power (and a glossy shine) when painting metals

- Don’t want a knot/bow in a piece of ribbon or fiber to keep slipping out? Add a dot of liquid glass on the back – it dries clear, rarely (if ever) discolors, and holds like crazy!

- Use it to add glitter to a project.

- tint your liquid glass by mixing in a little re-inker. Then use a toothpick to apply to desired area.

More Tips and Tricks for Liquid Glass

1) It can and does change the ink color a little bit when you put the liquid glass on top. Sometimes it's a really good thing. Reds tend to be more temperamental.

2) Always start with a thin coat and then add additional coats until desired thickness

3) Wrap a piece of scotch tape around your bottle of liquid glass & a stick pin.  This keeps a pin handy for when you need to unclog the tip of your liquid glass.
4) Be sure to clean the tip of your liquid glass after use.

Again, in this card, I added liquid glass to the rain drops to give them a wet look.

Liquid Glass was added to the porcupine's back to give it dimension, and also in groups of 3 little drops on the orange paper to give it a patterned look.

In this layout, I stamped a design onto Dimensional Elements Solo Alphabets, then layered them with LIQUID GLASS.  This gave the letters an epoxy look, which made them really stand out.

Order yourself some LIQUID GLASS HERE!

New Business Adventure!!!

I’m really excited to share my new business venture with you!

About a month ago I learned of a jewelry company called Jewel Kade. One look at the beautiful charms and handcrafted artistry and I was hooked. The high quality and the variety of jewelry is amazing… it's hip, hot and very "Hollywood" (being a Southern California girl).

I immediately booked a party and became hooked.  Someone said to me "you should do this," and that is how my journey begins...

Introducing:  Jen Patrick - Jewel Kade Independent Stylist-- Truly Charming

Jewel Kade began in 2008 with one woman creating charms for others.  In 2010 Jewel Kade went National and is now the fastest growing and one of the nation's premier jewelry brands.  I am excited to get in on the ground floor of this company and see it soar.
The bad news is that not many people have heard of Jewel Kade. But the GOOD news is…not many people have heard of Jewel Kade!  I am here to share it with you, my friends near and far!
I know you will find Jewel Kade "Truly Charming!"

April Showers Blog Hop

Thanks for joining me for another weekend of Blog Hoppin Fun!

If you have come here from Tina's Blog, you are on the right path!  Keep on hoppin until the end :)

April Showers is our theme, and I went with the "shower" theme and made baby cards for baby showers!  I am addicted to making these stacked present cards lately!  I first saw one that my friend Jayma made, who found it on Vicki's blog.  Recently, I saw a couple cute ones on Haley's blog too.

I cut my paper strips at 1.25 tall x 3, 2.25 and 1.5 long.  Add a ribbon down the center, or just a bow on top and you're set!  I used the Sweet Baby stamp set and Polka Dot Alphabet for my sentiments.

Now I'm all set for the next baby shower..... (though I don't know any preggos right now).

This design is also great for Birthday Cards too!!!!  I made two each of these cards and stamped Birthday sentiments on them :)

Supplies:
BOY:
Sweet Leaf Ink
GIRL:
Hollyhock, Pear ink
Corner Rounder
